It’s funny how once you feel settled and satisfied in a place or time, only then will something happen to disturb it, leaving you asking for more time. I know all I want is for my good times to go on indefinitely, but to what end? Is it not natural that in order to move towards our end as human beings we would be somewhat restless over the course of our lives?
Our hearts are restless until they rest in you [Lord].
St Augustine
Why should any given season of one’s life extend beyond necessity, its divine mandate, that is keeping in mind God’s plan for us?
The familiarity of the past is perhaps its greatest attraction, but this is a lie: it’s hardly perfect when you have to live through it. In that case what’s important, I suppose, is to have appreciation for the journey, that you should have a piece of goodness at all.
As you’re on your journey, remember you have no idea what plans God has for you. Something is bringing you where you are going. You have no idea what He wants you to do there, or who he wants you to meet, but there’s a reason for it. Pray you’ll recognise it when you see it.
I say this especially for those starting a new chapter in their lives (whether it be school or anything else) as we begin this September.
