a love note

Just a bit of housekeeping:

My subscribers may have noticed that the name of this blog has changed. What was once El Philósopho is now (For the) Love of Wisdom, and the URL has been altered accordingly.

Why did I do this? Well, the idea came to me one night when I was unable to sleep, and I began to think about, if I had a tagline for the site, what it would be. El Philósopho, while it is undoubtedly the coolest nickname I’ve ever been given, is undeniably ambiguous. So, I thought, if someone were to stumble on my work, what would they think it’s about? What’s my purpose, my direction? Why at all am I doing this? It could be for no other reason than the love of wisdom. That’s the truth of it. That’s the super glue that holds all my reflections, quasi-journal entries, articles, reviews, and essays together. It’s really what drives my thoughts and actions in everyday life, as well. As I like to say, Sophia (that is, the Greek word for wisdom, though I might equally say Prajña) is perhaps the most steadfast and fundamental love of my life that effectively precedes and informs all others. For how could I even be capable of love towards others have I not the wisdom to do so?

I have of course retained the URL and moniker, El Philósopho, because it no doubt captures what I have said here. Nevertheless, I hope this “makeover” is both more practical and, more importantly, reflective of what my whole mission here (and elsewhere) is really all about.

Wisdom be with you all. ✌🏻
